Job Description Red Seat Ventures (RSV) seeks an experienced Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs to manage legal functions across its media and entertainment portfolio. The attorney will negotiate, draft and analyze a wide range of commercial, production, talent and strategic agreements.

Responsibilities

Negotiate & draft agreements for talent, content licensing, production, original programming, distribution, sponsorship, and other contracts across media and entertainment.

Provide strategic legal counsel throughout acquisition, development and production of podcasts and original programming, ensuring alignment with company standards, legal requirements and industry best practices.

Advise on IP, rights and risk mitigation while partnering with stakeholders to manage compliance, insurance and business considerations, ensuring seamless deal execution.

Analyze, interpret and advise on contractual matters, offering practical solutions and concise recommendations to support business objectives and resolve partner or client inquiries.

Educate internal business teams on contractual principles, negotiation strategies and risk management to empower sound decision‑making.

Mitigate legal exposure while fostering innovation and advancing RSV’s strategic initiatives.

Ensure compliance with privacy, data security and intellectual property standards consistent with FOX corporate policies.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school; active membership in the New York or California Bar strongly preferred. Candidates eligible for Registered In‑House Counsel status (Rule 9.46) will also be considered.

7+ years of transactional legal experience, ideally within digital media, entertainment or content production.

Proven expertise in negotiating, drafting and closing complex agreements such as production, talent, licensing, distribution, and sponsorship deals.

Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex legal issues into practical, business‑oriented solutions.

Strong executive presence and refined communication skills, capable of influencing and advising senior business executives.

Demonstrated leadership and judgment under pressure, navigating competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Collaborative, business‑minded approach, building trust across teams and contributing to a culture of partnership and innovation.

Nice to Have

Law firm training and in‑house counsel experience at a major media or streaming company.

Experience with entertainment, news or sports brands in a podcast or digital‑first context.

Deep understanding of digital media, intellectual property, and content‑related legal frameworks.

Pay Range

– $247,000.00–$280,000.00 annually, with final offer dependent on education, skills, experience and location. The role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off and other benefits per plan documents. Union‑represented employees will receive benefits in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
