Dispatch Supervisor
RATP Dev USA is seeking an experienced Dispatch Supervisor to oversee daily operations of the Go Durham public transit system. The role involves planning, coordinating, and supervising dispatch activities to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable transportation for passengers.
Position Summary – Operations Supervisor
Reporting to the Operations Director, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for:
Developing route and schedule assignments for bus operations.
Coordinating dispatching activities, communications, and driver assignments to optimize the use of facilities, equipment, and human resources.
Assisting in training new drivers; maintaining personnel and operational records.
Ensuring accurate recording of ridership data, schedule adherence, employee performance, and vehicle maintenance.
Promoting a safe, accident‑free, healthy work environment and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.
General Qualifications
Knowledge:
Thorough understanding of the Durham area, Go Durham routes, service policies, and fare structures. Knowledge of transit operations and related regulations is required. Post‑secondary training in supervision/management, safety, training, human resources, or related fields is desired.
Experience:
Four years of direct transit operations experience, with supervisory or leadership experience being a plus.
Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and self‑directed work ethic. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
Physical Demands:
Ability to work scheduled hours, vision, hearing, speech, manual dexterity, and a valid North Carolina CDL driver’s license. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general information regarding operations.
Mental Demands:
Ability to listen, reason, think, concentrate, and interact with others. Self‑control under stressful conditions, particularly in employee relations situations.
Essential Functions
Assigns, directs, and supervises transit and dispatching operations.
Monitors radio communications and directs operators to ensure on‑time performance.
Maintains updated logs, attendance records, and incident reports.
Reviews payroll records for accuracy and ensures compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
Dispatches replacement buses and handles equipment failures, service delays, and incidents.
Participates in accident investigations and develops safety policies.
Collaborates with Safety Officer, Committee, and operators to build a strong safety culture.
Trains and supervises operators to meet regulatory requirements.
Conducts on‑road supervision and observes service quality.
Processes passenger complaints and initiates corrective actions.
Assists with customer service and crowd control.
Operates transit bus and performs routine inspections.
