This position will be part of Ashtabula Regional Medical Center's (ARMC) new patient care tower. The patient care tower is a 115,000 square foot, multi-story building with 55 new private patient rooms. This includes a new Intensive Care Unit, five new operating rooms in the Surgical Suite, and 24 new rooms in the Emergency Department. The new patient rooms have private bathrooms and showers and are more spacious and comfortable for families while visiting their loved one. The new tower creates an even better environment for our patients and caregivers while incorporating the latest technology in healthcare. Caregiver input was a critical piece of the tower design process. Caregivers were involved to help ensure the tower was designed around their workflow, not the other way around. Job Summary The role of the Unit Clerk is integral to ARMC's mission of providing quality patient care to our community. We are looking for a compassionate, energetic individual to join us in providing the best, most compassionate care for our patients!
The Unit Clerk functions as the key communicator and information agent for the unit. This individual will be responsible for managing/performing all clerical tasks, providing customer service in a courteous and helpful manner, and maintaining an organized nurse’s station.
Experience/Requirements
High School diploma or GED required
Basic computer skills required
Medical terminology preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Organized, accurate, detail-oriented
Ability to problem-solve and work independently
At least (1) year of experience providing direct customer service to customers or patients is strongly desired.
Required Licensure or Certification
BLS certification required. Can be obtained during orientation
Required Physical and Environmental Demands
High degree of dexterity and repetitive hand/wrist motions to produce materials on the computer
Normal or corrected vision and normal or corrective hearing
Extensive sitting and frequent walking-Occasional lifting and carrying items from 5 to 20 lbs
Work under periods of high stress and in a consistently fast-paced environment
