ProAmpac, situated in Manistique, MI, operates as a 24/7 manufacturing facility specializing in 100% recycled kraft paper rolls, we are seeking a skilled millwright to join our maintenance team.
POSITION SUMMARY Millwrights are responsible for installing, assembling and when necessary, dismantling machinery, conveyor systems, pulleys, mechanical clutches, gear boxes, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems. The Millwright must understand how a machine functions to assemble and disassemble it properly. This may involve knowledge of electronics, pneumatics, and computer systems. Candidate must be able to perform incidental tasks as required to complete the larger task.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
Operating vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipment.
Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
INTERDEPARTMENTAL RELATIONSHIPS Requires adaptability/flexibility to work with all departments of the plant to accomplish mill goals.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem only recognizing there is a problem.
The ability to listen to and understand information and instruction presented through spoken words and sentences.
Job requires being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good natured, cooperative attitude.
Job requires being open to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
Ability to provide mechanical support to manufacturing operations to locate and diagnose trouble in mechanical systems or equipment.
Ability to complete required preventive maintenance at defined intervals on all mechanical equipment.
Ability to clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery.
Ability and knowledge to properly use tools and equipment such as drill presses, power saws, chain falls and jacks.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and back such as handling product.
Job requires standing on feet and or walking throughout the entire work shift.
The ability to quickly and repeatedly bend, stretch twist, or reach out with your body and arms requiring flexibility.
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
SAFE WORK PRACTICES Diligently monitor work area for any potential safety hazards and react appropriately/efficiently to eliminate potential accidents.
Complete accident reports as needed, with support from the EHS Manager.
Support operations management team in safety program initiatives.
CLOTHING REQUIREMENTS Safety toed and slip resistant boots/shoes when in production areas.
Safety glasses will be supplied and are required at all times in the production area.
Ear plugs required in ALL Production areas.
EXPERIENCE
Programmable Logic Controllers: 1 year (Preferred)
Maintenance: 1 year (Preferred)
PHYSICAL
Considerable use of arms and back
Standing on feet and or walking throughout the entire work shift
Ability to quickly and repeatedly bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with body and arms, requiring flexibility.
