Description The Scheduler is responsible for ensuring accurate and complete scheduling of procedures, tests, and diagnostic services provided by AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, including Health Park and the Healthplex.
While coordinating a wide variety of patient and information flows between physician offices, Pre-Admission Testing, Radiology and the Operating Room, the Scheduler understands the initial patient registration process and uses online tools to provide patients with information regarding precertification, referral need, co-payment, and medical necessity requirements for services to be rendered.
The position communicates and collaborates with Patient Access team members and other hospital personnel to provide quality customer service. The Scheduler enters data for all cases and procedures and supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
License/Certification:

Experience:
3 years experience in the medical field as a registrar, receptionist or other related position required. Knowledge of medical terminology and computer experience with scheduling software programs and STAR is preferred. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents will be trained appropriately and skill will be required within 30-60 days from date of hire.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Potential exposure to hazards and risks of the hospital environment, including infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Requires sitting and working at a computer most of the time. Periodic traveling to other department locations is expected.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP This position reports to the Central Reservation Manager and the Clinical Director in Endoscopy or clinical leadership in Health Services.
