Location: BHG Bronson Healthcare Group, 6901 Portage Road.
Responsibilities
Greeting and registering patients, gathering and entering demographic and insurance/billing information.
Verification, scheduling appointments, and providing patients with financial information, price estimates, and collection/entry of payments.
Resolving patient financial issues and negotiating payment arrangements.
Ensuring accurate registration to support patient care and revenue cycle.
Managing a high-volume incoming call center, taking calls, and registering patients for outpatient radiology appointments.
Communicating appointment information accurately across multiple facilities and ancillary departments.
Verifying insurance eligibility using online systems and collecting payments following balancing procedures.
Analyzing, interpreting, and entering physician orders; scanning and indexing forms.
Verifying insurance for scheduled and urgent patients, obtaining authorization per payer criteria.
Accurately completing assigned work queues and identifying financial counseling needs.
Maintaining confidentiality in verbal, written, and electronic communication.
Following established processes, protocols, and workflows; taking initiative to resolve problems and meet patient needs.
Qualifications
High‑school diploma or GED required.
Previous customer service experience required.
Medical terminology, CPT, and ICD‑10 coding knowledge strongly preferred.
Basic typing at 45 WPM, ten‑key, and computer skills within a Windows environment.
Experience with multiple computer applications/operating systems and office machines.
Knowledge of HIPAA, confidentiality, insurance payer regulations, and patient rights.
Knowledge of revenue cycle components and impact of accurate registration on patient satisfaction.
Analytical skills to solve simple to semi‑complex problems.
Organization, prioritization, and time‑management skills.
Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Flexibility to facilitate change and maintain composure under deadlines.
Ability to work in a team environment and deliver exceptional customer service.
Additional Requirements for Cancer Center
Associate's degree in a related field, or 2 years related experience and/or training in a healthcare environment preferred (or 2 years business office experience).
Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) preferred.
Assisting employees and visitors with concerns and overall responsibility for safety and security of designated areas.
Monitoring security cameras and responding to potential security risks.
