Site Assistant - ARCHES - Family Day Center

Mid-Willamette Valley Community Action Agency is seeking a Site Assistant to provide direct housing and shelter support to families at the ARCHES Project sites in Polk and Marion counties. The role supports daily operations, including cleaning, laundry services, clerical duties, data entry, client navigation to resources, and special projects as needed. Responsibilities

Provide program support such as cleaning, site upkeep, laundry, and supportive services. Engage with clients, answer telephone, and monitor client and facility safety. Facilitate access to onsite services and deploy de‑escalation techniques in incident situations. Assist program operations: data entry, follow‑up, navigation to resources, and special projects. Attend required annual trainings. Perform janitorial and laundry tasks supporting daily facility operations. Support nutrition staff with kitchen tasks and meal preparation. Participate in community outreach to local organizations, camps, and groups. Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and coworkers. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED. Two years of relevant social services experience, including work with children, youth, or families. Knowledge or experience with trauma‑informed care, homelessness service delivery, and best practices in homeless service delivery. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Certificates, Licenses, and Requirements

Valid driver license, insured vehicle available for use, and satisfactory driving record for the previous three years. Basic Life Support/First Aid certification within first 30 days of hire. Food Handler's Card or ability to obtain within 30 days. Pass pre‑employment and random drug screenings. Pass comprehensive MWVCAA and ODHS background screenings before employment. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Experience working with homeless, vulnerable, or at‑risk populations. Basic computer proficiencies: MS Office, database software, web tools. Strong interpersonal communication skills, written and oral. Excellent planning, organization, and time management. Demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and empathy with clients, staff, and partners. Physical and Mental Demands

Close vision and ability to adjust focus; hear and speak required. Lift and/or move 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Manual dexterity for handling personal items, food, clothing, sacks, carts, and computer use. Incidental driving may be requested for employees with personal vehicle and current auto insurance. Remain calm under escalated client or staff situations, applying crisis intervention and de‑escalation techniques. Multi‑task with staff, volunteers, and guests. Work Environment

Indoor and outdoor work environments with frequent interruptions. Close quarters with a public client population experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and/or severe mental illness. Exposure to trash and potential biohazards. No remote work; on‑site required. Shift options may include early morning, evening, and night; on‑call work may be required.
