Full time/Part time: Full‑time (40 hours/week)

Temporary/Permanent: Temporary

Other Conditions: Casual Hire temporary appointment is expected to begin on January 2026 or soon thereafter. Not to exceed 89 days.

Duties:

Under the general supervision of the Student Development Coordinator of Kipuka Native Hawaiian Student Center, provides direct academic, career and financial aid advising for Native Hawaiian returning and transfer students in consultation with relevant units in the UH Hilo Division of Student Affairs.

Coordinate and facilitate the Kukulu Transfer Student cohort program.

Outreach to and collaborate with academic and support programs at UH Hilo and UH System Community College in support of transfer students.

Conduct, coordinate, and evaluate student success and development workshops and activities.

Oversee and maintain data collection for student participants.

Hire, train, supervise and evaluate peer mentors to assist implementation of programs and activities.

Work in multiple work settings to maintain a variable work schedule as required.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Possession of a baccalaureate degree in any field from an accredited university and 1 year of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for supporting transfer students in higher education; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.

Previous experience working with transfer students in a higher education institution.

Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.

Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of Hawaiian educational programs, activities, and resources.

Desirable Qualifications:

Demonstrated knowledge of UH Hilo programs and services.
