Overview
Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance (TOA) is the largest orthopaedic surgery group in Tennessee, dedicated to diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal disorders. TOA has been serving Middle Tennessee since 1926, expanding to over 20 locations across the state. The Patient Service Representative is the friendly and helpful face of TOA – the first person who interacts with patients and their families, setting the tone for a great patient visit. Responsibilities
Demonstrate exceptional customer service and patient focus for each encounter Verify patient demographic information upon arrival and update insurance information as appropriate Scan insurance cards and drivers licenses; enter referrals into the computer and link to the appropriate case Collect copayments, coinsurances, deductibles, and balances; schedule follow-up appointments as necessary Prep daily clinics for upcoming appointments and print related documents; create a record of the appointment or encounter and print Collaborate closely with clinical colleagues and administrative teammates to develop a cohesive, high‑performing team Qualifications
High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred Experience in a healthcare clinic or customer service role preferred, but not required Strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations with poise and professionalism Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook); EHR proficiency helpful, NextGen preferred Attendance and punctuality: consistently arrive to work on time and ensure coverage when absent Tech proficiency: demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, EHR experience helpful, NextGen preferred Benefits

The patient service representative may be assigned to work in one of TOA’s clinics at the front desk and may be required to participate as a “Greeter” sitting or standing at the front of the clinic to direct patients to their destination. The clinic experiences high patient volume and fast‑paced environment; noise level is moderate to loud with other staff members checking in patients and answering questions in close proximity to each other.
