Job Summary
Position: Chemical Operator
Location: Painesville, OH
Job type: Full‑time, onsite
Schedule: DuPont 12‑hour day/night rotating shift
Responsibilities
Operate equipment and maintain unit safety, environmental, and efficiency standards.
Execute unit work activity task list and perform rounds & field quality testing.
Monitor process equipment, product quality, and control systems.
Use basic troubleshooting and diagnostic skills to resolve process deviations and upset conditions.
Perform simple problem solving and participate in daily work improvements.
Follow standard work processes and practices as outlined by site and/or unit.
Understand and deliver on expectations during unplanned events that trigger root‑cause investigations.
Participate in root‑cause investigations as requested.
Train new unit operating personnel and share operating knowledge for their development.
Ensure operations performance aligns with plant and business goals.
Make improvements in unit operating discipline and performance based on personal knowledge and skills.
Monitor key unit metrics to keep plant performance on track to achieve goals.
Accurately and completely record asset utilization losses.
Develop operator care skills and competencies required for plant activities.
Follow Procedure Use Policy of unit and/or site.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited school.
Ability to follow all safety and environmental standards.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions and procedures.
Excellent problem‑solving skills with ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
Strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).
Ability to execute multiple tasks efficiently and prioritize tasks based on operational needs.
Demonstrates initiative and ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Proficiency in basic computer skills for data entry and operation of control systems.
Mechanical aptitude for understanding and working with processing equipment.
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
Experience with SAP and/or Delta V.
Working Conditions
Participate in plant emergency response organization; completion of 36‑hour fire course required.
Must be willing and able to work in a plant environment, including outdoor conditions in all weather.
Must be available for 12‑hour shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
Maintain a valid forklift operator certification.
Lift up to 55 lbs and climb stairs as required.
Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirator, fall protection harness, hearing protection, and maintain a clean‑shaven appearance.
