Facilities Maintenance Technician I
The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a
Facilities Maintenance Technician I
to support Facilities Operations & Maintenance (O&M) for our government customer located in
Norco, California .
Responsibilities
Assist other trades by inspecting and identifying facility equipment or machines in need of repair.
Assist in troubleshooting minor facility issues to determine necessary repairs.
Perform entry‑level maintenance and repairs that do not require a specialized technician and must be under direct supervision of a more senior technician (e.g., drywall, painting, lighting, doors, and other building fixtures).
Assist other trades in performing routine maintenance of building mechanical and electrical systems.
Assist other trades in performing preventive maintenance on equipment and facilities systems such as filter replacement, belt replacement, basic pump repairs, inspections, etc., as required.
Assist in completion of facilities‑related projects and equipment and system repairs as required.
Assist with finishing concrete masonry and grouting.
Assist with performing all grounds‑keeping functions such as mowing & trimming grass, edging, pruning hedges and trees.
Operate equipment such as riding mowers, weed‑eaters, pole trimmers and chain saws.
Operate all types of power and hand woodworking tools, paint sprayers, concrete mixers, and forklifts.
Maintain equipment, tools, property and materials, ensuring they are properly maintained and safeguarded.
Respond to all types of emergency situations (water, electrical, wind, storm, etc.).
Clean and assist with upkeep of the facilities and grounds.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Degree/Education/Certification
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Required Skills and Experience
One (1) year experience in facility maintenance.
Demonstrated knowledge in the use of hand and power tools.
Ability to understand and follow directions.
Ability to work cooperatively and safely with others on common projects.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Must be available and able to respond to emergency call‑ins when required.
Must pass an annual “Fit for Duty” physical and meet all necessary medical requirements to wear respirators and perform the physical requirements of the job.
Must pass the required respirator fit test and maintain the requirement.
Must be physically able to climb all types of ladders, a‑frame, vertical, extension etc.
Must be physically able to climb up on and maneuver on raised walkways and platforms with limited access.
Must be able to work in various types of confined spaces.
Must be physically able to move 55‑gallon drums with the assistance of mechanical means.
May be assigned other collateral duties as required.
Environmental Factors Works in indoor and outdoor environments that contain excessive heat, cold and humidity, excessive dampness, electrical energy, dust, fumes, solvents, grease, oils, moving machinery with moving parts, moving object or vehicles and slippery or uneven surfaces.
Physical Effort Works from ground level, ladders, and platforms on equipment and systems where parts are hard‑to‑reach. Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally over fifty pounds. Standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and stretching for prolonged periods will be necessary.
Desired Skills and Experience Two (2) years’ experience in maintenance of military facilities.
Required Citizenship and Clearance
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
