Job Summary : The Material Handler is responsible for operating a variety of material handling equipment for the purpose of moving, locating, relocating, stacking and counting merchandise. The equipment utilized in these functions may include forklifts, pallet jacks, slip sheets, and clamps. The material handler is responsible for the safe and efficient use of these vehicles. The Material Handler is also responsible for order selection and checking as the need dictates.

Duties / Responsibilities :

Unloads inbound shipments safely and moves product to the storage locations

Efficiently stacks and stores the product in the appropriate area(s)

Prior to product storage, counts all product, comparing counts to the drivers manifest and checks all shipments for damage, infestation and production code dates, and reports shortages, damages and misplacements to your immediate supervisor who will forward the information to the appropriate parties

Pulls and prepares product for shipment

Efficiently moves product from the staging or storage areas into rail cars or trailers.

Loads, unloads, moves, stacks and stages product and materials using a forklift, pallet jack, clamps, slip sheet or other power equipment

Inspects and verify equipment is operating prior to the start of the day's activity

Keeps appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained

Assists in physical inventories, ensuring the proper stock rotation

Maintains a clean, neat and orderly work area

Assists in maintaining the security of the warehouse, and conducts operations in a manner, which promotes safety.

QUALIFICATIONS Required Skills / Abilities :

Ability to understand and follow English instructions preferred.

Capable of following verbal and written instructions

Capable of operating facility material handling equipment (OSHA certified on forklifts, reach trucks, hand trucks) and their attachments

Basic understanding and utilization of RF scanning equipment

Have good arithmetic skills

Be available for various shifts

Have no fear of heights

Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures.

Follow company policies, procedures and guidelines, employ safe work practices.

Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role.

Education and Experience :

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum 90 Day Temporary Labor

License or Certificate Requirements :

Forklift driver certification

Forklift attachment(s) certification

Travel Requirements : Never

Physical Requirements : Guideline Strengths

Heavy lifting - lifting of 50 pounds or more

Motion Parameters

Heavy - able to stand for long periods of time (over 6 hours)

Work Environment Medium - must be able to endure working in freezer environment for up to 6 hours

Vision and Hearing Heavy - must be able to endure loud warehouse noises and have accurate vision to work in a freezer environment
