Estimator Mechanical Plumbing – Meridian Mechanical Services
Meridian Mechanical Services LLC. is currently looking to fill an Estimator Mechanical Plumbing position within our team. Meridian manages all types of Commercial HVAC/R, Plumbing, Medical Gas, and gas piping work. We are seeking a team member versed in all facets of construction, including plumbing and mechanical systems (preferred but not required). The office is located in Rockledge, FL, and the role will report to the Rockledge office with day trips to multiple jobsites throughout Central, East, and West Florida as required.
Analyzing project plans and specifications, conducting material and labor take‑offs, preparing detailed cost estimates, and creating bids for plumbing and mechanical system installations and renewal projects. The estimator collaborates with engineers and project managers, communicates with vendors and subcontractors, and ensures the final estimates are accurate, competitive, and profitable. This role requires strong technical knowledge of plumbing and mechanical systems, as well as excellent analytical and communication skills.
Responsibilities
Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, and scope of work to understand project requirements.
Conduct detailed material and labor take‑offs to quantify all necessary components for plumbing and mechanical systems.
Develop comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, subcontracted scope, and equipment.
Prepare detailed, competitive, and profitable bid proposals for projects.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to refine estimates and ensure project feasibility from a cost perspective.
Obtain quotes from suppliers and negotiate with subcontractors to ensure the best value for the company.
Keep organized and updated records of all project estimates and related documentation.
Offer support during the preconstruction and implementation phases to ensure estimates are adhered to and costs are managed effectively.

Strong understanding of plumbing and mechanical systems, materials, and industry regulations.
Ability to interpret complex documents and perform detailed calculations.
Proficiency with computerized estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Trimble, McCormick) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Strong communication and negotiation skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and specifications.
Ability to manage multiple bids and projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
Education & Experience Requirements
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; high‑school diploma with experience may suffice for some roles.
Previous experience in the construction or plumbing industry highly valuable.
5+ years of construction estimating experience.
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Bid2Win, Quotesoft), Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), and other relevant financial and analysis tools.
Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
