Job Summary
At UNC Health, our web content writers create engaging and patient‑friendly content for numerous health system websites. As part of the marketing and communications department, writers work with subject matter experts across the organization to represent our locations, services, providers and mission on our system and entity sites. Our original web content speaks primarily to patients with the goal of sharing all that UNC Health offers and helping people make decisions about their health and well‑being. Content on our sites must be: Scannable, accessible and accurate; optimized for AI search and SEO; patient‑focused in service to the people of North Carolina.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate within the web content team to maintain internal drafting, review and revision processes (including alignment with our style guide and AP Style), as well as coordinate efforts to complete large web content projects.
Work with the marketing technology team to plan for a successful transition from written draft to published page.
Engage stakeholders and SMEs to understand content requests and goals and to gather information with a customer‑service mindset.
Coordinate with the greater marketing and communications team to better understand consumer insights, brand requirements and marketing objectives.
Apply best practices for SEO and AI optimization.
Fact‑check writing to ensure accuracy.
Apply brand voice guidelines.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, with varying timelines and requirements.
Embrace a culture of psychological safety and open communication.

Exceptional writing and communication skills.
Highly detail oriented.
Experience with content management systems (Geonetric VitalSite a plus).
Ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Strong customer service focus and ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders.
Working knowledge of keyword research and basic SEO principles.
Experience implementing editorial guidelines for specific platforms and audiences.
Editing for style.
Proofreading for grammar and fact checking.
Research.
