Job Summary The Director of Residential Services is charged with ensuring respectful, compassionate, survivor-centered responses to all persons seeking residential and/or hotline services, as well as overseeing services to survivors of domestic violence and their families residing in all YWCA residential programs. The Director is responsible for cultivating the strengths, professional growth, and leadership of all staff under her/his supervision.

Education Requirements & Additional Qualifications

MA, MPA, MSW or related degree, LCSW preferred.

Residential domestic violence work experience required.

Minimum 5 years counseling and supervisory experience.

Significant knowledge and sensitivity to issues of domestic violence and homelessness and the intersections of DV with other oppressions required.

Familiarity with addiction issues, welfare advocacy, and immigration law.

Commitment to the Mission of the YWCA Union County, empowerment of women, and elimination of racism.

Must be bilingual (English and Spanish).

Must demonstrate cultural competency through either experience or education.

Additional Requirements

Excellent verbal, written, and public speaking skills.

Knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Bilingual in Spanish.

Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.

Maintain flexibility in schedule to meet client needs.

Be available for some evenings and weekends.

Occasional second or third shift work may be required.

Essential Job Duties

Overall management of residential services including the shelter program, Supportive housing, and hotline.

Create a safe, empowering living environment for all residential clients.

Supervise Shelter coordinator, Child Advocate, Shelter counselor, Supportive housing case manager, and facilities staff.

Supervise and develop services: crisis intervention, residential counseling, advocacy, case management, and residential workshops.

Ensure adequate scheduling and staffing of shelter and housing programs.

Provide oversight of on-call schedule and 24-hour availability for crisis or emergencies.

Oversee provision of adequate food supply and requirements.

Communicate with supervisor and finance director to ensure maintenance and cleanliness of residential facilities.

Attend program meetings: monthly staff meeting, case review, Directors Meeting, NJCEDV, CEAS, etc.

Complete timely performance evaluations of staff.

Ensure adequate training for all direct care staff.

Support professional and personal development of staff.

Assist the Assistant Executive Director with development of shelter policies and programs.

Ensure compliance with all funder requirements and maintain client files.

Collect data and generate monthly and other required statistical reports.

Recommend and participate in development of new programs as needed.

Complete foundations and corporate grant reports.

Maintain relationships with funders and donors.

Coordinate donations and partnership with community organizations.

Manage department budget in collaboration with Director of Finance.

Train all shelter personnel to answer the hotline and cover backup shifts.

Secondary Job Duties

Attend staff meetings, conferences and trainings as directed.

Represent agency at community events, health fairs, etc.

Conduct outside presentations as required.

Maintain flexibility in schedule and activities to meet needs of Residential department.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
