Subject Matter Expert (NGTS Data Development‑ELINT) – Journeyman
Salary: $110,000.00 – $150,000.00 (commensurate with experience). This position is not eligible for remote work; on‑site support is required.
Location(s): California, Maryland and Patuxent River, Maryland.
Position Background
The Simulation Environment Modeling (SEM) product suite supports modeling and simulation (M&S) environments; trainer systems; test and evaluation (T&E); analysis; live, virtual and constructive (LVC); research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and its international partners. All products are government owned, developed and managed. The Next Generation Threat System (NGTS) is a continually evolving synthetic environment generator that supports multiple platform/services training, testing, analysis and research and development. A Typical Day
Assists the software development team in developing an advanced synthetic training environment to support military pilot training Applies tactical knowledge to support the development of entity models Performs Tech‑ELINT analysis on complex waveforms associated with a wide range of red and blue force systems Works with software programmers to develop and refine simulation presentation of real‑world ELINT parametric data Performs signal translation of waveform data into descriptive and behavioral modeling and simulation language for development and test Conducts specific technical duties on NGTS Performs threat system analysis and sensor modeling of radars, electronic warfare (EW) systems, countermeasures, electro‑optical and infrared (EO/IR) systems and various weapons Conducts specific sensor research, analysis, correlation and assessment in order to reproduce the sensor as a software model through a suite of NGTS data editing tools Participates in software test activities (test procedure creation, test plan development, etc.) Understands/discusses simulation requirements with the customers Documents/tracks requirements and provides technical input to modelers related to fidelity, accuracy and intended use Acts as liaison with aircrew and program leads Must‑Haves
HS Diploma or equivalent 8 years of relevant work experience 8 years of experience with tactical military aviation (fighter, attack, support aircraft or rotary‑wing) supporting a minimum of one of the sensors/systems listed below in an aircrew, ground operator, or flight test environment: Radar and/or radar warning receivers Threat system analysis, electronic countermeasures and/or other Electronic Warfare systems EO/IR Air‑to‑air weapons, air‑to‑ground weapons and/or surface‑to‑air weapons Recent/relevant knowledge of tactics, training and procedures for deployment of the systems (listed above) in a current combat environment Understanding of RADAR fundamentals Understanding of Electronic Order of Battle Basic understanding of weapon engagements and supporting guidance systems The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance Desired Skills
Experience as an Electronic Warfare Operator, Flag Plot Analyst or a Threat Training SME Basic knowledge of XML files Experience with NGTS or other simulation Experience supporting model and simulation efforts Experience performing software testing Experience utilizing intelligence sites Skills Crucial To Success At AMEWAS

The employee works in a classified office space, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc. Travel may be required to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site or near the work site, occasionally overnight. The employee is required to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and lifting items up to approximately 50 lbs. Refer a Friend
