Senior Mechanisms Systems Engineer – Lunar Permanence Blue Origin invites you to join our Lunar Permanence business unit as a Senior Mechanisms Systems Engineer. You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program, contributing to the development of sustainable lunar infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Develop & manage mechanisms specifications and requirements at subsystem and component levels.

Develop & manage interfaces, Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and models in collaboration with adjacent IPTs.

Decompose system and subsystem level requirements into lower-level requirements.

Mentor early‑career mechanisms systems engineers on the lunar program.

Standardize mechanisms systems engineering approaches.

Own the verification and validation of mechanisms requirements in collaboration with test engineers.

Perform traceability analysis of requirements to higher levels and to verification activities.

Lead trade studies across the mechanisms IPT and with other IPTs.

Serve as the mechanisms point‑of‑contact for other IPTs.

Utilize systems engineering tools such as Jama, Windchill and Cameo.

Support and present at major gated reviews: design reviews, readiness reviews, etc.

Qualifications

Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.

Minimum 8 years of relevant mechanisms engineering or systems engineering experience on space missions.

Strong understanding and application of systems engineering fundamentals in areas such as requirements management, verification, and/or integration.

Familiarity with common spacecraft mechanisms hardware.

Strong understanding of aerospace hardware verification and validation process.

Desired

M.S. or Ph.D. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.

Experience with docking systems.

Familiar with NASA systems engineering process and standards.

Experience solving a variety of mechanical problems demonstrating breadth in application.

Expert in requirements management software such as Jama.

Compensation Range (CA, CO, WA) CA: $140,959.00–$197,342.25; CO: $129,611.00–$181,454.70; WA: $140,959.00–$197,342.25.
