Project Engineer – Land Development & Vertical Construction
Pay $60-$80K Annually (DOE)
Base Pay Range $60,000 – $80,000 per year.
Position Summary The Project Engineer will provide technical and coordination support for land development and vertical construction projects under the direction of senior project managers and engineers. This role is intended for an early-career professional with foundational exposure to design, permitting, and construction who is seeking to grow within a development and construction environment.
The Project Engineer will assist with design coordination, permitting documentation, and construction execution while gaining hands‑on experience across the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities Land Development Support
Assist with review and coordination of civil site plans including grading, drainage, paving, and utilities.
Support coordination with civil engineers, surveyors, and utility providers.
Help assemble permit submittals and track review comments and approvals.
Maintain awareness of basic zoning, site plan, and grading permit requirements.
Assist with quantity takeoffs and basic site construction planning.
Vertical Construction Support
Assist with coordination between architectural, structural, and MEP design teams.
Review drawings to identify obvious conflicts, missing information, or constructability concerns.
Support submittal, RFI, and drawing log management.
Assist with subcontractor bid reviews and scope comparisons under supervision.
Construction Phase Assistance
Support project managers with field coordination and documentation.
Participate in site meetings, inspections, and site walks.
Track quantities, schedules, and basic cost impacts as directed.
Assist with construction documentation, daily reports, and closeout materials.
Project Controls & Administration
Maintain organized digital project files and logs.
Track action items, deliverables, and permit status.
Assist with schedule updates and milestone tracking.
Support development of standardized templates and workflows.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
0–4 years of experience in land development, site civil, or building construction.
Basic familiarity with construction drawings and specifications.
Exposure to permitting or municipal coordination is a plus.
Strong organizational skills and willingness to learn.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Internship or co-op experience in civil engineering or construction.
Exposure to both site development and vertical construction projects.
Experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Bluebeam.
EIT certification or intent to pursue licensure.
