Parish Bookkeeper (25–30 Hours/Week) Location:
St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Remus, MI St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Remus, MI is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our faith-filled, mission-driven team. This role is ideal for someone who has a financial background, is organized, friendly, and eager to support the administrative and financial health of our Catholic community. The Bookkeeper works closely with parish staff, ministry leaders, and vendors to ensure smooth daily operations. Responsibilities
Accounting & Finance: Processing accounts payable, printing checks and filing paid invoices. Recording deposits in the accounting software, as well as CSA pledges and contributions. Process regular monthly journal entries. Maintain accurate and confidential financial records in accordance with parish and diocesan guidelines Human Resources: Assist with onboarding new employees, ensuring all required documentation is completed Assist department leaders with their Human Resources needs. Coordinate employee benefit renewals Process biweekly payroll accurately and on schedule Administrative Support: Serve as a backup receptionist, greeting visitors, answering phones, and providing general office assistance as needed Qualifications
Experience in bookkeeping or accounting (parish or nonprofit experience a plus) Proficiency with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace Strong written and verbal communication skills Friendly, welcoming, and positive attitude that reflects the values of our Catholic community Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently with minimal supervision Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Work Environment
