At Mad Science, we are having a BLAST!
We pay you to have fun! Build and fly rockets, demonstrate lasers, explore the states of matter using dry ice, and help children create slime and other polymers. You will inspire the next generation of scientists through our innovative activities that show kids what science is really all about. You will lead students through an inquiry-based discovery method involving instructor demonstrations, hands‑on activities, and amazing take‑home projects that will illustrate how science affects the world around us. Mad Science is the world's leading provider of fun science programs for elementary‑aged children.
We are looking for HIGHLY ENERGETIC, DYNAMIC AND CONFIDENT individuals to join our growing team to conduct exciting science, engineering, and technology programs. You do NOT need to be a certified teacher (although we love that!).
Pay for all Areas of Business (AOB) is hourly - including set‑up and clean‑up time. Starting pay is $22.00-$25.00 per hour, DOE.
Responsibilities
Facilitating in‑person workshops and after‑school science enrichment programs for children from preschool through elementary school
Deliver high‑energy, part entertainment, part education, hands‑on programming
Meet bi‑monthly to exchange class materials in Los Angeles
Attend paid training sessions.
Be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
Be on time for all scheduled activities.
Adhere to strict safety and cleanliness guidelines
Qualifications
Must be available at least 3 consistent weekdays from 12‑5pm for the duration of the session. We are currently looking for folks with MONDAY, TUESDAY, and FRIDAY avail. (All three days). While this is a part‑time position, it is critical that you are able to commit to the length of any given program (school season, camp session, after‑school program, etc.), and that you are able to give us steady weekly availability.
Must be available to begin training by Jan. 5th
Must be available to come in‑person to warehouse in Glendale every 2‑3 weeks for material exchanges
Must have an insured, personal vehicle as you will be transporting equipment to conduct programs and exchange materials
Some experience teaching/ working with groups of elementary‑age (4‑12) children (such as an after‑school teacher or camp counselor).
Minimum of 1 year of college suggested. Degrees and/or graduate degrees are a plus.
Maintain a fun, flexible, and outgoing personality!
Enjoy teaching young children the art of science!
