DEPARTMENT Forestry
JOB SUMMARY The Conservation Forester will support the development and implementation of site-specific off-reservation forest management plans that integrate traditional ecological and forestry knowledge with modern and innovative forestry practices. Coordinate and oversee activities related to forest inventory, data collection, hazardous fuels reduction, invasive species control, and wildlife and aquatic habitat enhancement. Work with contractors and internal staff to ensure project and grant goals are met on time and within budget. Facilitate interdepartmental and interjurisdictional coordination to align land management efforts with broader environmental strategies. Assists in establishing demonstration sites and supports Tulalip’s participation in emerging ecological markets.
COMPENSATION $DOE
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Conservation Biology, Natural Resources or related field.
Master’s Degree in related field preferred.
MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE
Five (5) years of forestry and/or natural resource related project experience.
Five (5) years of experience performing data collection.
Two (2) years of experience in project or contract management.
Two (2) years of experience with grant management and reporting.
One (1) year of experience with reading maps and using a compass.
Six (6) months of experience working with chainsaws, weed eaters, brush mower, hydraulic wood splitter, woodchipper, and manual forestry tools.
Six (6) months of experience using forestry data collection equipment (i.e. Laser, Relaskop, Prism, Datalogger, Diameter tape, Increment borer, GPS units, etc.).
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES
WA State Driver License.

Must adhere to the Motor Vehicle Regulations
(Abstract Required)
CPR/First Aid Certificate.
Must complete an
Agility exam
to determine if physically capable of performing the job.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT This is a grant funded contracted position.
