Advisers will begin service upon hire and work until May 31 2026
Responsibilities
Work with high school seniors to provide information on college admissions, financing, ACT/SAT registration, and application completion (40% of time).
Assist students with scholarship research and resources (20% of time).
Complete all GCAC reports and projects; track student interactions via the College Advising Corps Student GRACE web‑based system (15% of time).
Collaborate with the high school site liaison; official supervisor is the Program Director of GCAC (10% of time).
Host college fairs and information sessions on college admission and financial aid (5% of time).
Conduct outreach to juniors, sophomores, and freshmen to build interest in college, and participate in extracurricular activities when possible (5% of time).
Education, Experience, and Qualifications Applicants must have earned a Bachelor’s degree by July 2025 and graduated high school between 2019 and 2022.
A strong desire to serve and the ability to work well with diverse populations are required.
Relevant skills include interpersonal collaboration, organization, communication (spoken, written, and multimedia), and problem‑solving.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Interpersonal Skills: Collaborate effectively with others to achieve goals.
Organization Skills: Meet deadlines, plan events, and maintain data and records.
Communication Skills: Speak persuasively and tactfully, write professionally, and create multim‑media texts such as flyers and presentations.
Problem‑solving Skills: Surmount challenges and solve problems creatively, ethically, and diplomatically while guiding students through college admissions.
Physical Demands Willingness to perform light lifting.
