Program Coordinator for Mentoring and Strategic Initiatives Inside Higher Ed is seeking a Program Coordinator for Mentoring and Strategic Initiatives (MSI) to join the Excellence in Graduate and Postdoctoral Training team at the Ohio State University Graduate School. The role supports the Assistant Dean for Mentoring and Strategic Initiatives and senior leadership in implementing the vision for mentoring, recruitment, and retention.

Responsibilities

60% – Mentoring Program Coordination

Coordinate programming to advance effective mentoring practices for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.

Organize logistics and instructional materials for mentoring workshops.

Communicate with faculty, staff, and mentor workshops facilitators across the university.

Serve as the liaison between the MSI Team and graduate student organizations, providing mentoring resources.

Assist with mentoring workshops for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.

Respond to mentoring inquiries, handle workshop requests, and keep content updated on the mentoring website.

30% – Recruitment and Retention Initiatives Coordination

Act as a recruitment liaison between the MSI Team and graduate program coordinators.

Coordinate and implement the Graduate School’s signature programs, including the Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP).

Arrange travel logistics for the SROP cohort of approximately 40 students, including travel, travel authorizations, expense reports, and reimbursements.

Coordinate hiring, onboarding, and administrative details for the SROP cohort.

Participate in graduate recruitment events, on‑campus and off‑campus, as well as virtual college fairs.

Maintain inventory and order supplies for recruitment and retention programs.

10% – Other Duties

Provide office administrative support related to meeting scheduling, space reservation, and catering.

Assist with special projects assigned by the Associate Dean for Excellence in Graduate and Postdoctoral Training.

Education & Experience

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and four years of relevant experience.

Desired Education

Master’s degree and four to eight years of relevant experience preferred.

Required Experience

Experience with mentoring, recruitment, and retention initiatives.

Excellent written and oral communication skills with diverse stakeholders.

Ability to manage multiple projects independently and successfully.

Experience learning and managing complex organizational processes.

Strong administrative, interpersonal, and cultural competencies, including handling sensitive information with discretion.

Experience working collaboratively.

Proficient use of technology to support project delivery and communications.

Intermittent travel and availability for weekend or evening hours.

Desired Experience

Experience in a college or university setting, including graduate education.

Experience with public speaking and/or workshop facilitation.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $55,000‑$60,000 per year.

Position type: Regular, full‑time, 40‑hour week.

Schedule: Hybrid with three days on campus, two days remote.

Location: University Hall (0339).

Shift: Varying shifts.

Band: Specialized, Level 3.
