The German Diabetes Center (DDZ), Leibniz Institute for Diabetes Research at the Heinrich Heine University (HHU) Düsseldorf is an interdisciplinary research institute that together with CARDDIAB (Cardiovascular Research in Diabetes) studies the causes and consequences of the impaired interaction of the cardiovascular system and glucose metabolism in their early, advanced and late manifestations will be investigated in humans.
The research group “Computational Diabetology” develops computational methods for the analysis of multimodal data, mainly multiomics data (genome, transcriptome, epigenome, proteome, metabolome) from CARDDIAB and its associated cohort studies, and is looking for a highly motivated and talented early-career
Doctoral Researcher (f/m/d)
for a full-time (100%) TV-L E13 compensated position in the field of bioinformatics.
Tasks & Responsibilities Development of computational methods for the analysis of large omics data
Skills & Expertise Your profile:
Completed relevant academic university degree (e.g. master) in computer science, data science, bioinformatics or mathematics
Expertise in Open Source, Linux, compute workflows, semantic web, exchange of electronic health care data e.g. FHIR, and pangenome data analysis
An analytical aptitude for devising innovative scientific or technical solutions
Proficient in programming languages Python, C/C++, and Rust
Basic understanding of biological concepts
International research experience / working experience abroad
Excellent communication skills in English
You are a team player and keen to collaborate with medical researchers, physicians and biologists to propel the project

The position is awarded for 3 years with the possiblity of extension.

Salary is regulated by the collective agreement for the civil service of the state in the version valid for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
