Summary East Texas A&M University, a Doctoral University classified as R2: High Research Activity by the Carnegie Classification, invites applications for a tenure-track Associate or Full Professor position in Curriculum and Instruction to begin August 2026. The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s teaching, research, and service missions. We seek a scholar who demonstrates potential for impactful research, effective and comprehensive teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and meaningful service to the department, college, university, and profession. At East Texas A&M University, we transform lives! With campuses across Dallas and surrounding regions, we proudly deliver 140+ academic degrees and serve around 13,000 students. In November 2024, we changed our name from Texas A&M University-Commerce to East Texas A&M University. Our new name celebrates our East Texas heritage and connects us to the communities we serve. In addition to the name change, we have also become an R2 institution which indicates our commitment to research and scholarship.

Duties & Responsibilities Research

Develop and sustain a productive program of research/creative activity leading to peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and other scholarly contributions.

Seek external funding to support research as appropriate to the discipline.

Direct and serve on doctoral dissertation committees.

Mentor and engage both graduate and undergraduate students in research.

Teaching

Teach 5-6 courses per academic year across undergraduate and graduate levels.

Contribute to the department’s core curriculum and develop graduate and undergraduate courses in area(s) of expertise.

Supervise and mentor doctoral students, including guidance on dissertations, and other graduate research projects.

Demonstrate commitment to effective, comprehensive, and innovative pedagogy.

Delivery of instruction both online and on any of the university campuses. Instructional duties may include teaching during the day, in the evening, or on Saturday.

Service

Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and governance.

Contribute to the professional community through activities such as reviewing, conference participation, and organizational service.

Engage in outreach or community engagement consistent with the mission of the university (if applicable).

Minimum Requirements

Ph.D. (or terminal degree) in Curriculum and Instruction or other very closely related discipline including bilingual education, early childhood education, Reading, and Secondary Education by time of appointment.

Evidence of potential for scholarly productivity in research/creative activity.

Evidence of effective teaching or teaching potential at the university level, including graduate-level instruction.

Preferred Education / Skills / Experience

Ph.D. (or terminal degree) in Bilingual education

Record of peer-reviewed publications or other scholarly outputs.

Experience with grant writing or external funding.

Experience mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in research/creative activity.

Demonstrated ability to contribute to curriculum development in Curriculum and Instruction.
