Perform day-to-day patrol operations to facilitate visitor understanding and enjoyment, and to induce behavior that complies with park regulations. Periodically staff an Information Desk at the park Visitor Center or other like location. Provide information to visitors and assist with trip itinerary planning; lost articles, car trouble and first aid. Monitor and report on the condition of the resources of the park. Participate in the development of reports, gathering/collection of routine information, database management, and other administrative support tasks such as assisting in the creation or revision of interpretive materials, guidebooks, handouts. Observe, document, and maintain records of various backcountry conditions and wildlife conditions and observations. Operate vehicles and equipment used in general park operations such as full size 4x4 pickup trucks. Conditions of Employment
U.S. Citizenship required. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males. Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program. Must operate a motor vehicle as part of official duties; a valid driver’s license is required. Must submit Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and Driving Record; certified driving records from all states that disclose all valid driver’s licenses. Wear a uniform and comply with National Park Service uniform standards; a uniform allowance will be provided. Qualifications
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level. Experience may include Park guide or tour leader, Law enforcement or investigative work, Archeological or historical preservation research work, Forestry and/or fire management work, Management, assistant, or program specialist work involving the development and implementation of policy related to protection, conservation, or management of park areas or similar operations. Successful completion of at least a 4‑year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor’s degree in a related field; must include transcripts. Combination of experience and education percentages as required if both are present. Volunteer experience with National Service programs and related organizations may be credited.
