Schedule Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 4:15pm

Season Dates June 16 - August 19, 2026

Salary Range $17 p/h

Position Overview Summer Camp Counselors are responsible for supervising and engaging campers in a variety of activities, fostering meaningful connections, and creating a supportive community atmosphere. This role offers valuable opportunities for personal and professional growth, leadership development, and building lasting relationships with campers and fellow staff members.

Skills and Competencies

Assist Senior Counselors in supervising and engaging campers in a variety of activities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and enjoyment.

Foster positive relationships with campers, serving as a mentor, role model, and friend, and promoting a supportive and inclusive camp culture.

Lead and facilitate a variety of age‑appropriate activities, including sports, arts and crafts, nature exploration, and team‑building exercises.

Assist in the planning and implementation of daily schedules, routines, and program plans, ensuring a balance of structured and free‑choice activities.

Monitor the behavior and interactions of campers, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and effectively, and promoting positive social skills and conflict resolution strategies.

Assist in the supervision and coordination of lunch and snack, breaks, and transitions between activities, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable camp experience.

Communicate regularly with camp leadership, fellow staff members, and families, providing updates, feedback, and support as needed.

Participate actively in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Uphold camp policies and standards, including health and safety protocols, and ensure compliance with all camp rules and regulations.

Requirements Education and Experience

Must be at least 17 years old by June 1, 2026.

Previous experience working with children in a camp, school, or recreational setting is preferred.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and motivate campers.

Enthusiasm, creativity, and a passion for working with children and promoting their personal growth and development.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborate with diverse individuals, and adapt to changing circumstances.

Possession of a valid CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements

Standing/sitting for long periods of time.

Bending, lifting, pushing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, stooping.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to reach at and above shoulder height to access higher areas of equipment, etc.

Must be capable of adapting to frequent changes in position throughout the workday.

Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone.

Use of hands and fingers for manipulation, and using computer keyboard, educational tools, play equipment, and perform first aid and CPR.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
