ENGLISH TEACHER – MIDDLE / HIGH SCHOOL – 2026‑2027 SCHOOL YEAR

We are now accepting applications for the following certificated position(s) beginning in the 2026‑2027 school year.

Requirements

Valid California Teaching Credential with an Authorization to teach English in grades 7‑12.

CLAD/BCLAD/EL Authorization (Emergency permits are not accepted).

A Bachelor's Degree, including all courses and/or exams needed to meet credentialing and subject matter competency.

Experience as mandated by the state.

Personal qualities: resourceful, innovative, helpful, diligent, persistent, and a willingness to work with colleagues and students.

Work Days : up to 184 days, 1.0 FTE.

Salary : Annual entry‑level salary placement from $60,544 to $100,773 for a full‑time position; salary prorated based on start date, FTE, and prior experience past a Bachelor’s degree.

Health Benefits : 2025‑2026 Certificated Health Benefits Plans and Rates (2026‑2027 plans and rates will be available Spring 2026).

MANDATORY CHILD ABUSE REPORTER : This position is designated as a Mandated Reporter; the English Teacher shall report in accordance with California state regulations any observation, actual knowledge, or reasonable suspicion of child or elder/dependent abuse or neglect to appropriate agencies.

Candidate Selection : The selected candidate will be required to present prior to the first date of employment: 1) a social security card; 2) proof of tuberculin risk assessment; 3) pass State and Federal fingerprint clearances; and 4) complete all pre‑employment training including but not limited to Child Abuse Reporting and Sexual Harassment / Abusive Conduct.

Duty and Responsibilities

Teach English and incorporate language skills, writing skills, and critical learning procedures.

Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter as specified in state laws, regulations and District policies.

Develop clear and appropriate lesson plans and identify instructional materials.

Select, design and organize objectives, strategies and materials for teaching English, incorporating research findings.

Provide individualized and small‑group instruction as necessary to adapt the curriculum to each student’s needs.

Determine appropriate pace for instruction relative to students’ abilities and explain material and subject content to students and parents.

Differentiated instruction for students based upon need and work with students and other teachers in inclusive settings.

Establish and maintain standards of behavior in the classroom and throughout the school.

Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep records, prepare progress reports and provide feedback to students and parents.

Use data to improve learning and instruction processes.

Create an environment that fosters student creativity, critical thinking, academic achievement and lifelong skills.

Show competence and confidence in working with new technology and various application packages.

Maximize opportunities for student success by creating positive mentoring and working relationships with students and colleagues.

Establish and implement a classroom discipline policy and maintain a conducive learning atmosphere.

Provide additional instruction for students requiring support in academic skill development.

Maintain positive staff relations and work closely with the site principal to collaboratively lead the school through shared decision‑making processes.

Collaborate with other professional staff to identify student needs and develop assessments for health, attitude, and learning problems.

Participate in faculty committees, meetings and other faculty‑sponsored programs supporting the educational program.

Demonstrate regular and timely attendance; network and collegiality with staff.

Promote a positive image of public education and engage with community and business partners.

Attend required in‑service activities and meet deadlines; maintain records and follow district promotion policy.

Follow District and school policies.

Physical Requirements

Stand and sit for extended periods.

See and read printed matter with or without vision aids.

Hear and understand speech at normal levels.

Speak English at normal levels.

Perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, stooping, twisting, bending, grasping, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, moving, lifting or carrying 0 to 25 pounds to waist height.

Move throughout the building and school grounds as necessary.
