Senior Research Associate II, Medicinal Chemistry
Join our innovative drug discovery team as a Senior Research Associate II at Maze Therapeutics. In this role, you’ll apply your expertise in organic and medicinal chemistry to synthesize, purify, and characterize novel molecules that could lead to breakthrough therapies. You’ll work hands‑on with cutting‑edge techniques and collaborate across functions to advance our research programs.
Responsibilities
Execute multistep syntheses of complex small molecules and characterize intermediates and final products.
Propose new compounds for synthesis based on SAR and synthetic knowledge.
Summarize and interpret results and present findings in research meetings.
Learn new laboratory techniques, troubleshoot experiments, and ensure high‑quality execution.
Utilize scientific literature and databases (e.g., SciFinder) to design efficient synthetic routes.
Collaborate with scientists across functions to develop and optimize newly generated molecules.
Qualifications
B.S./M.S. in Chemistry with at least 4 years of relevant experience in synthetic organic or medicinal chemistry.
Demonstrated experience in organic synthesis, chromatographic purification, and compound characterization using modern analytical techniques (NMR, LCMS, HPLC, etc.).
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
A proactive, solution‑oriented approach and commitment to collaboration.
Ability to learn and adapt in a fast‑paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Benefits & Compensation Expected annual salary range: $120,000 - $147,000 (San Francisco Bay Area). Additional eligibility for an annual performance bonus.
