$183,100-$236,400 annual range. “Off‑scale salaries” and other components of pay are offered to meet competitive conditions. Qualifications

Veterinarian with advanced clinical training and experience in companion exotic animal medicine and surgery. Board certification by the American College of Zoological Medicine required. For Professor series faculty, an advanced degree (MS/PhD) or mentoring experience in research is required. Documented research record or potential to develop a focused research program in zoological companion animal medicine or surgery. Demonstrated aptitude/experience in teaching in both clinical and didactic settings desired. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work in a collegial team atmosphere. Valid license to practice veterinary medicine in California required before beginning clinical duties (or a University License). Responsibilities

Teaching: participate in lectures and laboratories in the DVM professional curriculum focusing on companion exotic animal medicine and surgery. Clinical teaching of veterinary students in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH), including the California Raptor Center and contracted zoological collections. Participation in the ACZM clinical (resident) training programs of the VMTH. For Professor series faculty: participate in graduate academic programs (MS/PhD/MPVM) if applicable. Clinical commitment: 50% for Professor, 70% for Professor of Clinical Zoological Companion Animal series. Direct, instruct, and supervise veterinary students and house officers; provide health care and service to patients; advise and consult with referring veterinarians and clients. Advance the discipline of zoological companion animal medicine within the VMTH and locally/nationally through high‑quality patient care. Clinical & Professional Competence

Responsible for leading clinical service, directing educational activities, and maintaining reputation for clinical excellence at local, regional, and national levels depending on appointment level. Research & Creative Scholarship

For Professor series faculty: develop a creative, productive basic and/or clinically‑oriented research program with publication in professional/scientific journals. Provide leadership for resident and graduate student research projects. For Professor of Clinical series: advance the clinical discipline through new knowledge and peer‑reviewed publications. Service

University and public service through committee work, participation in professional organizations, and development of continuing education activities of the VMTH related to companion avian and exotic animal medicine and surgery. Benefits
