Banner University Medical Center Phoenix offers an opportunity to join as a Housekeeping EVS Associate. This role involves cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining the hospital, ensuring facilities appearance is top notch. No prior hospital or institutional experience required. The work environment is fast‑paced and physically demanding, involving walking, pushing cleaning carts, and handling potentially infectious materials. The selected candidate will undergo background check, drug screen, and must complete onboarding promptly. All employees are required to receive annual flu vaccine.
Position Summary Perform all cleaning of patient rooms and assigned areas as part of the environmental service team. Ensure the safety, health, and high morale of patients, visitors, and staff by maintaining a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment with minimal interference.
Core Functions
Perform assigned cleaning tasks: dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming, polishing per department policies.
Empty hampers, transport of soiled linen, empty trash and medical waste containers (including sharps).
Inventory, restock, and replenish supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, hand soap.
Maintain cleanliness of departmental equipment; notify personnel of required repairs; log equipment usage appropriately.
Perform special projects such as window washing, wall washing, and removal of heavily soiled items.
Respond to patient, staff, and visitor inquiries. Meet or exceed customer service satisfaction goals.
Work under regular supervision with responsibility limited to assigned facility/area. Internal customers include staff, physicians, nurses; external customers include visitors, patients.
Minimum Qualifications Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision; interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions; communicate effectively by phone and verbally; read material safety data sheets and understand cleaning chemical instructions; fill out chemical identification stickers.
For employees at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, Boswell Skilled Nursing Facility, Olive Branch Senior Center, or Whole Health Clinic, possession of an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at hire and maintenance throughout employment is required.
Preferred Qualifications Previous related experience with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques.
