Diocese of Camden
Salem County – Case Worker 1 at Diocese of Camden. The Case Worker 1 serves clients in need with care and dignity, working closely with the Family & Community Service Center.
Responsibilities
Reflect the mission and vision of Catholic Charities in all client interactions.
Respond to client requests for information and services in a timely, compassionate, and professional manner.
Assess client needs, determine eligibility for Catholic Charities services or linkages to community resources.
Evaluate financial need, ability to follow plans, and documentation for funding requirements.
Screen for additional problem areas such as substance abuse and make referrals.
Verify client information and maintain confidentiality of all client information and services.
Use agency database to complete client case notes.
Track and collect client and statistical data utilizing Excel and Word reports.
Participate in staff meetings, department and agency-wide trainings, and represent Catholic Charities at monthly meetings with state and county partners.
Collaborate with staff and volunteers to order, stock, and distribute food; complete related reports.
Assist in implementing, developing, and continuously improving the program.
Assist in training and supervising program volunteers.
Communicate program problems to Regional Program Coordinator and recommend resolutions.
Maintain a positive work atmosphere and foster good relationships with customers, clients, external colleagues and management.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities May have oversight of program volunteers.
Qualifications
Knowledge of entitlement programs, federal and state regulations, and community resources.
Understanding of social issues affecting the poor in southern New Jersey.
Basic knowledge of local social services programs and eligibility criteria.
Strong interpersonal, time‑management, and communication skills.
Ability to relate compassionately to people in emergency situations.
Sensitivity to the needs of culturally and economically diverse populations.
Strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
Bilingual preferred (English and Spanish).
Clear and proficient written communication for documentation.
Education and Experience A bachelor's degree in social work or a related human services field is preferred. In lieu of a degree, a high school diploma plus three years of experience in social services will be considered.
Pay Range $41,500 – $43,500
