Purpose Our Child Welfare Division offers a professional development environment where you collaborate with families and community partners to achieve successful outcomes for children and families.
Description For the first 12 months, the social caseworker is a professional training level position with intensive supervision. Assignments are limited to 50% of the county’s average workload or 10 assessments/cases at a time, whichever is less. This structure allows focused development of core social casework skills.
Essential Duties
Complete family, safety, and risk assessments.
Facilitate gathering of assessment information and joint treatment planning.
Ensure shared decision‑making and family involvement toward case resolution.
Essential Job Functions
Provide case management services in accordance with agency, state, and federal guidelines; caseload limited to 10 cases.
Conduct family, safety, and risk assessments.
Collaborate to establish and monitor treatment plans.
Use solution‑focused practice to mitigate risk, enhance safety, and expedite case resolution.
Complete comprehensive reports and extensive case documentation.
Conduct home visits, attend community meetings, and participate in court hearings.
Provide court testimony as needed.
Authorize and coordinate supportive services.
Provide referrals to community services and collaborate with partner agencies.
Advocate for families in crisis or impacted by trauma, substance abuse, mental health, domestic violence, multi‑generational poverty, child abuse, neglect, or sexual abuse.
Demonstrate proficient writing skills.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Specialized Assessment Essential Job Functions
Answer the Child Protection Hotline and conduct thorough referrals.
Complete fatality, near‑fatality, egregious, and institutional abuse assessments.
Provide training on child abuse and neglect identification.
Represent Child Welfare at community interdisciplinary meetings.
Assessment Social Caseworker Essential Job Functions
Conduct initial assessments of abuse and neglect referrals.
Engage families to maintain child safety at home.
Facilitate removal of children from homes when safety cannot be maintained.
Permanency Social Caseworker Essential Job Functions
Collaborate with families, providers, courts, and community to establish permanency through reunification, allocation, guardianship, or adoption.
Monitor treatment plan progress and identify barriers.
Family Empowerment Social Caseworker Essential Job Functions
Collaborate with families, providers, and community to mitigate risks and maintain child safety.
Identify barrier through intensive in‑home engagement.
Adolescent Permanency Social Caseworker Essential Job Functions
Manage cases overseen by the juvenile delinquency court system.
Oversee youth placed in residential treatment facilities.
Youth In Transition Social Caseworker Essential Job Functions
Complete “engaging youth in a coach‑like way” training and apply skills.
Support youths in voluntary cases to locate housing.
Assist youth in developing independent living skills.
Chafee Program Coordinator Essential Job Functions

Promote youth and agency participation in the Chafee program.
Facilitator/ Family Search Essential Job Functions
Utilize concepts from family engagement models.
Conduct Permanency Roundtable (PRT) meetings for identified youth.
Conduct family searches to identify kinship supports and placement options.
Professional Development Coach Essential Job Functions
Develop and present group coaching sessions and trainings.
Conduct individual coaching with a co‑active model.
Oversee and enhance the mentorship program.
Support staff professional development through structured learning plans.
Adoption Social Caseworker Essential Job Functions
Collaborate with permanency managers to plan prior to termination of parental rights (TPR).
Manage cases after TPR ordered by court.
Prepare legal documents for adoption.
Establish a child’s eligibility for adoption assistance and complete requirements.
Recruit adoptive families for children.
Placement Resource Manager Essential Job Functions
Evaluate prospective families using standardized studies and investigations.
Certify and recertify placement families per state requirements.
Provide training to placement families.
Ensure ongoing compliance of certified and non‑certified providers.
Participate in recruitment and retention events.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with coursework related to child welfare/social services.
Professional, internship, or volunteer experience in a human services agency.
Prior Child Welfare Case Management experience desired for certain specialty positions.
Transcripts of the Bachelor’s degree required.
