Job Description Develop, conduct, coordinate, evaluate and report on Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ educational programs attended by urban audiences, new and existing residents, community gardeners, teachers, volunteers, advisory committees and others.

Provide technical support, review landscape and irrigation plans and ‘train the trainer' programs showing how to implement Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ with Master Gardener volunteers, community homeowner associations, demonstration gardens and public landscaping.

Collaborate with the horticulture team to plan, market, and teach horticultural (in‑office or in‑the‑field) customers, activities and programs using extension methods and multi‑media.

Teach water conservation and efficient irrigation practices to homeowners and community associations; teach horticultural BMP (Green Industries – Best Management Practices) for water resource protection. Conduct rain barrel programs, keep an inventory of rain barrels and attachments available for purchase. Educate the public on composting and its uses. Will be required to drive for trainings.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Develop, conduct, coordinate, evaluate and report on Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ educational programs.

Provide technical support and review landscape and irrigation plans.

‘Train the trainer' for Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ implementation.

Collaborate on planning, marketing, teaching support for horticultural customers.

Teach water conservation, efficient irrigation, horticultural BMP and rain barrel programs.

Maintain an inventory of rain barrels and educational materials.

Drive for trainings as needed.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with municipal organization and community related programs pertaining to the assigned county department.

Basic understanding of program support.

Written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present programs to various audiences.

Ability to prepare promotional materials customized to program needs.

Organizational and time‑management skills.

Ability to direct and monitor the work of others.

Basic arithmetic skills.

Customer service and teamwork skills.

Resourcefulness and tact in solving new problems.

Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Ability to prepare effective correspondence on routine matters and perform routine office management details without referral to supervisor.

Ability to ascertain priorities, meet deadlines, and achieve objectives.

Good written and oral communication skills.

Knowledge of standard office computer equipment and software applications; ability to maintain accurate records and reports.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Expected Salary $46,000-$51,282 annually, commensurate with experience and education.

Special Instructions to Applicants Work is performed primarily in an indoor, climate‑controlled environment. May lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Must work independently and on a team. Requires a valid Florida driver’s license and the following certifications within one year of hire: Green Industry – Best Management Practices Trainer, FDACS Pesticide Applicator License Holder, Florida‑Friendly Landscaping™ Certifications, and FNGLA Horticultural Professional.
