Summary The Senior Clinical Social Worker provides applied advanced clinical skills and case management services in a specialized program. This position is located in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) – Southeast Network (VISN 7) – VA Augusta Health Care System (VAAHCS) in Augusta, Georgia, within the Mental Health Service.

Qualifications

United States Citizenship (Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy).

Master’s degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). A doctoral degree may not substitute for the master’s degree.

Transcripts (unofficial acceptable) and a state license must be submitted with the application.

Licensed or certified by a state to practice social work at the master’s degree level. Current state requirements can be found at http://vaww.va.gov/OHRM/T38Hybrid.

English Language Proficiency: Proficient in spoken and written English.

Minimum of two years of experience post advanced practice clinical licensure, with at least one year at the GS‑11 grade level.

Advanced practice skills and judgment; experts in a specialized area of practice.

Licensure or certification by a state at the advanced practice level, including an advanced generalist or clinical examination.

Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in specialized interventions, advanced practice psychotherapy, complex differential diagnosis, outcome evaluation, consultation, policy writing, and service delivery improvement.

Experience with specialized treatment programs or special populations; ability to provide supervision.

Assignment responsibilities may include: clinical program development, effectiveness assessment, coordination with other programs, advanced practice psychological assessment, and providing a full range of advanced practice services.

Duties

Provides applied advanced clinical skills and case management services in a specialized program.

Interacts with patients, families, community agencies, and staff.

Coordinates social work services with other programs of service to the same client group.

Provides advanced practice psychological assessment services and diagnoses mental disorders, particularly for complex or unusually difficult patients.

Assists with program development, evaluation, and effectiveness.

Provides clinical psychosocial and case management services at an advanced practice level for veterans in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Offers supportive counseling and appropriate case management to reduce veteran stress throughout all phases of treatment.

Incorporates complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment.

Conducts interviews and psychosocial assessments.

Develops collaborative mental health treatment plans.

Work schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

Paid Time Off: 37–50 days annually (13–26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays). Parental leave: up to 12 weeks after 12 months employment.

Child care subsidy: after 60 days employment for eligible employees.

Retirement: Federal pension and 401(k) with up to 5% matching.
