$18.50/hr - $28.00/hr
Job Overview Title: Chrome Operator
Reports to: Production Supervisors (Value Stream or Shift)
Location: Kent, WA
Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt (hourly)
Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 2:30 P.M.
Job Summary This Chrome Plating Operator position processes parts through the processing tanks. Operators must join the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program and perform operations in accordance with Military and OEM specifications.
Responsibilities
Work closely with other Operators and Department Leads to complete work and prioritize tasks.
Follow technique cards, customer Purchase Orders, and instructions from other Operators and Department Leads; legibly sign off on work once completed and Operator Self Verification inspection has occurred.
Review paperwork and Operator Self Verification inspection to ensure all prior operations were completed. Notify the supervisor and Quality Assurance of any errors.
Prepare parts before operations including mechanical or chemical cleaning; use proper tooling and fixtures when applicable.
Understand pre- and post-cleaning surface finish requirements.
Familiarity with Quality Assurance requirements & rework procedures.
Familiarity with engineering drawing notations.
Follow safety precautions to avoid preventable injury to self and other personnel.
Develop new product processing and identify areas for improvement.
Actively participate in continuous improvement activities to drive positive change in productivity, delivery, and service.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Ability to pass a pre-employment and annual physical Chromium exam and spirometry exam; ability to wear a respirator.
May need to participate in annual hearing conservation testing and eye exams.
Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, including safety glasses, goggles or face shields, aprons, boots, gloves, and other PPE based on area requirements.
Demonstrated ability to train and positively influence others.
Self‑starter who can work independently, as part of a team, and with customers (internal and external).
Excellent accuracy with strong attention to detail.
Ability to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position.
Ability to learn and use Lean tools and techniques to solve tactical and strategic problems.
Must have a regular and dependable attendance record.
Ability to read/write/communicate in English and perform basic math calculations.
Requires access to export‑controlled information and must satisfy U.S. export control regulations with authorization to work in the U.S.; non‑U.S. persons would require an export license.
Education / Previous Experience Requirements
1–2 years in aerospace and/or manufacturing production environment (plus).
Essential Mental/Physical Demands
Ability to lift occasionally: floor to knee 114 lbs., waist to waist 63 lbs., floor to knee to waist 75 lbs., waist to shoulder 30 lbs.
Ability to carry 63 lbs. occasionally.
Ability to push/pull 59 lbs. occasionally.
Ability to stand and walk frequently.
Ability to sit occasionally.
Ability to reach from the shoulder and overhead occasionally and from the waist frequently.
Ability to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, crawl occasionally.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders occasionally.
Ability to push/pull frequently.
Ability to pivot, twist, pinch occasionally.
Ability to grasp frequently.
Ability to see/hear/feel constantly—hearing protection may be required when working in the area.
