This is a Civil Service contingent position which may lead to permanent. The shift is Monday through Friday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm

Equipment Operable

Able to operate multiple heavy machines including front end loader able to carry two cubic yards or larger;

10-wheel dump truck to haul sand, gravel, tools or equipment and displace or unload sand, gravel and materials while in motion or still;

roll offs and rollers for leveling dirt

small bulldozers (72 hp and below) for moving dirt and difgging

tank testing equipment

line paint machines

large flatbed truck for transporting heavy equipment

tractor trailers

sewer maintenance combination high presssure jet and vacuum cleaner

street sweepers

snow blowers

small tracked vehciles with special blades for digging and clearing drainage ditches

Competent in checking working connditions of equipment and provides routine service and maintenance

supervising work of lower level employees

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Either:

a) completion of six school grades, and one year of experience in the operation of heavy automotive equipment; or

b) one year of experience as a Automotive Equipment Operator

Must posess a CDLlicense issued by the New York State Department of Otor Vehicles. License must be maintained throughout employment in this position

HIRING SALARY All Heavy Equipment Operator employeesare considered essential employees and must respond to the college during emergency situations (weather, county declarations etc.)

As per the Association of Municipal Employees (AME) contract, the starting annual salary is $37,793.(Grade 13).Position is eligible for medical benefits as offered by the College.

Salary in accordance with Suffolk County civil service and AME contract and is non-negotiable.
