The Buyer is a critical procurement professional position on the manufacturing operations team, responsible for executing procurement activities that ensure uninterrupted production. This role focuses on delivering materials on schedule, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and quickly resolving supply chain disruptions. The Buyer collaborates closely with production, planning, inventory, accounts payable, transportation and quality teams to align purchasing decisions with operational priorities, drive cost efficiencies, and support the facility’s overall productivity and quality goals. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Create and process purchase orders for raw materials and/or packaging components based off of material requirements planning (MRP). Develop and distribute supplier forecasts, ensuring contract performance where applicable. Participate in maintaining optimal inventory levels and minimizing excess/obsolete stock. Work with the innovations team to help launch new product introductions (NPI). Monitor delivery schedules and expedite orders to meet production schedules. Communicate with suppliers to confirm order status and resolve issues. Maintain accurate purchasing records in the ERP system. Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, price, delivery, and responsiveness. Work cross-functionally with production, planning, inventory, accounts payable, transportation and quality teams. Address invoice discrepancies and coordinate with accounts payable for resolution. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards. Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, or related field, or commensurate combination of education and work experience. 4 years’ professional manufacturing procurement and supply chain management experience. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs)

General understanding of purchasing principles and supply chain operations. Strong communication and organizational skills. Advanced in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume, and apply basic algebra and geometry concepts. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written, with internal staff and management; read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Practical problem solving and troubleshooting skills; apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in supply chain, business, operations, or related field. Relevant professional certification (APICS CPIM, CSCP). General knowledge of MRP processes and concepts. Experience in food manufacturing or vitamin, mineral, and supplement industry.
