Facility & Farm Manager (Winery) Position Summary: The Facility & Farm Manager is responsible for maintaining the winery’s buildings, grounds, and agricultural areas to ensure a safe, attractive, and efficient operation for guests, staff, and production. This role oversees day-to-day facility maintenance, equipment upkeep, farm/land management activities, and vendor coordination, with a strong focus on safety, preventative maintenance, and seasonally driven priorities.

Key Responsibilities Facilities & Building Maintenance

Maintain winery buildings and infrastructure (tasting room, production areas, offices, storage, restrooms, patios, barns/sheds, etc.).

Perform routine repairs (basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, door hardware, minor electrical troubleshooting as permitted).

Implement and manage a preventative maintenance program for all building systems (HVAC, septic, water, pumps, alarms, fire extinguishers, grease traps as applicable).

Manage utilities oversight (water, electric, propane/gas), monitor usage, and identify cost‑saving opportunities.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance shop, storage areas, and utility spaces.

Grounds, Farm, and Land Management

Oversee mowing, trimming, landscaping, tree care, gravel roads/driveways, drainage, fencing, and signage.

Manage farm areas (pastures, hayfields, gardens, non-vineyard acreage) including seasonal tasks such as brush clearing, planting, and erosion control.

Coordinate snow/ice removal plans (if applicable) and severe weather readiness.

Support vineyard team as needed on land projects (road improvements, trellis repairs, irrigation support, equipment staging).

Equipment & Fleet Oversight

Maintain and service equipment: tractors, mowers, UTVs, sprayers (if applicable), pumps, generators, pressure washers, etc.

Track maintenance logs, inspections, parts inventory, and repair schedules.

Ensure safe operation practices and training for staff using equipment.

Vendor & Contractor Management

Source, schedule, and oversee contractors for specialized work (electricians, plumbers, HVAC, arborists, paving, excavation).

Obtain quotes, manage vendor relationships, and verify work completion and quality.

Coordinate service agreements and renewals (trash removal, pest control, landscaping, alarms/security, etc.).

Required Qualifications

3+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, farm/grounds management, or a related role (hospitality, agriculture, or light industrial preferred).

Working knowledge of basic building systems and repair practices.

Comfortable operating and maintaining tractors, mowers, and small engine equipment.

Ability to read manuals, follow safety procedures, and keep accurate maintenance records.

Strong organization, problem‑solving skills, and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced, seasonal environment.

Valid driver’s license; ability to drive UTV/tractor and operate equipment safely.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in winery, vineyard, brewery, farm, or agritourism operations.

Certifications or training in OSHA safety, HVAC, electrical, pesticide application (if relevant), or equipment operation.

Familiarity with irrigation, drainage, and light construction projects.

Physical & Work Requirements

Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work outdoors in varying weather, and perform physical tasks (standing, bending, climbing ladders).

Availability for occasional early mornings, weekends, and urgent maintenance needs (especially during events, harvest, or weather events).

Willingness to be on‑call for critical issues (parameters defined by the winery).

Full‑time (exempt or non‑exempt based on duties and local laws)

Compensation:

Competitive, based on experience; benefits and perks as applicable

Pay: $25.45 - $30.65 per hour
