FAMILY SERVICES SPECIALIST- RESOURCE FAMILY GRANT
Family Services Specialist-Grant Position
– Montgomery County Department of Social Services.
Montgomery County Department of Social Services seeks qualified applicants for a Family Services Specialist opening. This position will work with four local Department of Social Services for collecting and reporting data to the Virginia Department of Social Services, and conducting child-specific recruitment efforts.
Responsibilities
Search for kinship families and recruit families for foster parenting through state‑approved curriculum for Foster Care and Kinship Families.
Provide assistance with training foster and kinship families.
Prepare mutual Family Assessments and Reports of Investigations for Circuit Court.
Explore opportunities for funding of support programs for Kinship/Foster/Adoptive families.
Coordinate and participate in all events related to the program.
Provide group support for foster, kinship, and adoptive families to preserve the placement of children.
Maintain adoption caseload and serve as a resource for adoptive families.
Work Schedule Customary schedule Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with some evening work for training events and meetings with potential foster families, as required by policy.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related human services field.
Valid Virginia driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
Completion of background screening, DMV screening, drug and alcohol testing (including THC), as required of a safety‑sensitive duty.
Compensation and Benefits Starting salary: $44,128, dependent upon experience and qualifications.
