UPMC Chautauqua is seeking a Full‑Time Professional Staff Nurse to join our team in Nursing Administration. This position requires variable availability to include days, evenings, and overnights and will work every other weekend and holiday. Previous nursing experience is required.

Role Overview The Senior Professional Staff Nurse II is a Registered Nurse and an integral member of the care delivery team. The nurse manages and coordinates care for a group of patients and their families using independent judgment and collaboration with all team members.

Leading and partnering in process improvements to enhance practice.

Providing direct patient care and ensuring optimal outcomes across the continuum of care.

Building strong, collaborative relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and families.

Demonstrating leadership, communication, and supervision within the team.

Upholding a commitment to the nursing profession and the community.

Detailed Responsibilities

Demonstrates a passion for developing others, precepting students, graduate nurses, and new hires.

Applies the nursing process within Relationship‑Based Care to create a healing environment.

Serves as a role model of professional nursing practice, leading in clinical expertise, teacher, and evidence‑based practice.

Builds and mends relationships among colleagues, preventing horizontal violence and maintaining a healthy workplace.

Identifies opportunities for clinical quality and workplace improvement, applying evidence‑based practice.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience.

BSN preferred.

Completion of annual contribution as set forth through UPMC’s My Nursing Career Ladder.

UPMC approved nursing certification required within 1 year of hire/promotion (not required if Master’s in Nursing or DNP is held).

Knowledge and skills to provide care across the life span.

Must obtain a Solid/Strong/Good or higher on performance evaluations to be promoted and maintain status.

Ability to establish positive relationships with executives, managers, physicians, and patients.

Ability to work productively within a complex environment, handling multiple priorities.

Exemplary clinical judgment and critical thinking.

Mobility and visual manual dexterity.

Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state or in a state covered by a licensure compact.

Completion of annual contribution as set forth through UPMC’s My Nursing Career Ladder.

UPMC approved nursing certification required within 1 year of hire/promotion.

CPR required within 30 days of hire.

ACLS within one year of hire or transfer.

PALS within one year of hire or transfer.

ACLS, BLS/CPR, PALS, RN, NYS Staff Exclusion List, NYS Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse.
