Responsibilities
Conduct evolutionary genomics analyses including population structure, local adaptation, and genome-wide scans.
Develop and implement GWAS and QTL mapping pipelines for trait discovery.
Perform comparative genomics, pangenomics, structural variation, and synteny analysis.
Integrate genomic, phenotypic, and ecological data to identify adaptive loci.
Mentor graduate and undergraduate researchers in bioinformatics and quantitative genetics.
Prepare peer-reviewed publications, figures, and presentations.
Assist with NSF proposal development and collaborative research initiatives.
Contribute to maintaining a collaborative, productive research environment.
Minimum Experience and Education
Ph.D. in Evolutionary Biology, Genomics, Quantitative Genetics, Bioinformatics, Plant Biology, or a related field (completed by start date).
Demonstrated experience in population genomics, GWAS, and/or QTL analysis.
Proficiency in computational/data analysis environments (R, Python, Unix/Linux, HPC systems).
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a collaborative research team.
Preferred Experience, Skills, and Training
Experience with pangenomics, structural variation, and synteny analysis.
Background in ecological genomics or plant adaptation.
Experience mentoring students.
Publication record demonstrating quantitative genomics or evolutionary analysis.
Interest in developing and leading research on new model systems.
Other Work Responsibilities
Appointee recently (within the last eight years) awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate.
Appointment is temporary, for up to one year at a time, with renewal possible.
Total appointment limited to five years, including time spent in previous postdoctoral appointments at other institutions.
Appointment involves substantially full-time research or scholarship at 1.0 FTE.
Appointment helps the Postdoctoral Fellow prepare for a full-time academic and/or research career.
Appointee works under the supervision of a faculty member.
Appointee is expected to publish the results of their research during the appointment period.
