Job Description About UC Blue Ash The Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science Department at UC Blue Ash invites applicants for our Physics Adjunct faculty general pool of candidates from which part-time faculty will be selected for the upcoming term (as needed).
The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College is one of the largest regional colleges in Ohio. The college is in Blue Ash, Ohio, fifteen miles north of the uptown campus, on 135 acres in a park‑like setting. We offer primarily associate degrees in career and transition programs, as well as general education courses and technical baccalaureate degrees to approximately 4,800 students. We value excellent teaching and personalized student supports to help students achieve their goals, whether the goal is to enter a career or to continue education. Job Overview On a part‑time limited basis, the Adjunct Faculty member's primary academic functions include teaching of physics lecture and/or lab. Adjunct faculty must be able to teach introductory physics, algebra and calculus‑based first‑year physics courses and labs.
Adjunct faculty members will be expected to (1) use our course management system (Canvas) and any textbook‑specific systems; and (2) hold regular office hours to meet with students.
Courses offered may include day, evening, or online. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Essential Functions
On a part‑time basis, teach assigned undergraduate courses and/or undergraduate labs.
Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of his or her responsibilities.
Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University‑related communications.
Other related duties as assigned.
Required Education
A Master's Degree (or higher) in Physics, Physics Education, or related field – OR – At least 18 credit hours of graduate‑level coursework in Physics or Physics Education.
Required Experience
Previous lecture and lab teaching experience is required.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Knowledge of issues in physics education and knowledge of technology relevant to physics and classroom pedagogy.
Experience teaching in a college setting.
