Position Purpose Support environmental science and regulatory compliance contracts to ensure compliance with environmental Federal, State and local regulations related to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), and other environmental laws.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct studies, make measurements, inspect conditions, document observations, collect and analyze data.

Evaluate impacts of government operations, assess compliance, identify and report non‑compliance, work collaboratively to resolve issues and improve processes.

Evaluate site conditions, including the work of others, to ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, hazardous waste, universal waste, used oil and air emissions.

Demonstrate knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations and protocols.

Collaborate with engineers, planners, technicians and other specialists to address environmental problems.

Plan and oversee sampling of multiple environmental media following established protocols.

Assist with data interpretation and reporting; evaluate data and draw conclusions and make recommendations.

Communicate scientific and regulatory information to clients, peers and other site personnel through oral briefings, written documents and formal meetings.

Prepare, review and update technical reports, plans and procedures.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Participate in manual field work such as sampling, surveying and material handling as needed to support the successful execution of projects (less than 25% of the time).

Operate measuring and test equipment such as meters and gauges and material handling equipment such as drum lifters and liftgates.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Chemistry or related field.

OR 4 years of experience combined with technical training.

Skills and Abilities

Communicate clearly and concisely in speech and writing; demonstrate understanding of and sensitivity to unspoken meaning and nonverbal cues.

Facilitate communication across the organization and effectively interface with customer and site personnel daily.

Superior attention to detail and the ability to meet stringent deadlines.

Collaborate and work independently as needed.

Routinely handle customer inquiries and complaints to ensure needs are addressed.

Perform basic arithmetic and unit‑conversion tasks.

Apply common sense in carrying out detailed written or oral instructions.

Apply and understand technical protocols including U.S. EPA and New Mexico State regulations for waste management, air quality, water quality, environmental investigations and data analysis.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for scientific purposes.

Special Requirements

US Citizenship

Pass Federal background check

Hold current driver’s license with acceptable record; demonstrate safe operation of motor vehicles on unimproved roads; commercial driver’s license not required.

Preferred Qualifications

40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with annual refreshers.

Ability to work compressed schedules, overtime and travel as needed.

Physical Demands

Employee may sit for long periods in office or vehicle; stand, walk and use hands as required.

Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs; walking in remote, steep terrain while carrying up to 50 lbs of equipment.

Working Environment

Work conducted indoors and outdoors; 50–75% in office/industrial/lab settings; exposure to controlled physical, chemical and biological hazards.

25–50% outdoors; exposure to heat, cold, inclement weather and environmental hazards.
