Lecturer, Doctoral Schedule – Communication Studies Baruch College, City University of New York – Full‑time faculty line. Position begins August 2026. Lecturers serve as "master teachers" focused almost entirely on teaching, with no research obligations. After five years, eligible for promotion to Certificate of Continuous Employment (tenure‑like status based on teaching excellence and service).

Responsibilities

Teach 12 teaching hours per semester (≈ 4 courses), with at least 9 hours from core courses COM 1010, COM 2020, COM 3021.

Teach an additional course from other departmental offerings as needed.

Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work and teaching‑learning projects.

Administer a debate program: coach students and organize one public debate each semester.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in communication studies or related field at the time of appointment.

Demonstrated excellence in teaching and ability to work collaboratively.

Extensive experience in intercollegiate academic debate.

Commitment to working effectively in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.

Eligibility to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship).

Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $82,389 – $92,454, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include health insurance, pension/retirement plan, paid parental leave, and savings programs.
