The Business Department at the University of Wisconsin-Stout seeks individuals with an expertise in Marketing, a passion for teaching, an inquisitive disposition for applied research, and leadership skills to fill one tenure-track assistant professor position beginning in August of 2026. The position will be hired at the assistant professor level, with the final appointment based on the candidate's academic qualifications and experience.

Located in Menomonie, Wisconsin, UW-Stout fulfills its mission as Wisconsin's polytechnic university by preparing career-ready, creative thinkers who graduate equipped with the knowledge and skills to emerge as leaders in their workplaces and communities. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum / Required

Have one of the following by employment start date: Master's in marketing or business‑relevant field (MBA), with 18 graduate credits in Marketing and 5 years of relevant professional marketing experience

ABD in Marketing or business‑relevant field, with 18 graduate credits in Marketing and 5 years of relevant professional marketing experience, of which are completed upon hire date.

Commitment to advancing student learning in marketing.

Evidence of teaching ability.

Demonstrated success working with diverse stakeholders.

Highly Desired/Preferred

Ph.D. in Marketing or a Ph.D. in a business‑relevant field with 18 graduate credits in Marketing and 5 years of relevant professional marketing experience.

Demonstrated excellence in teaching marketing or related fields to undergraduate majors and non‑majors across in‑person and online modalities.

Experience and interest in mentoring undergraduate students in applied research/projects.

Commitment to cultivating a work environment and student success that embraces inclusion.

Demonstrated potential for applied scholarship.

Demonstrated successful professional experience in the retail industry.

Note: A terminal degree is required for promotion above assistant professor, unless by special exception process.

RESPONSIBILITIES UW-Stout is a teaching‑focused campus. Faculty teach in‑person, online/distance, and blended modalities, using a variety of instructional technology. Academic programs have program advisory committees comprised of alumni, employers, faculty, and staff to help inform and sustain relevant curriculum for career‑ready graduates.

Responsibilities include teaching, revising, and developing marketing courses to support the Business Administration program, a Marketing minor, and general education (Stout Core) requirements. Faculty members are expected to participate in shared governance, curriculum development, recruitment, student academic advisement, scholarly research, program‑level assessment of student learning, professional service activities, and continuous improvement processes, in collaboration with faculty and staff.

Given the rapid pace of change in the business world, UW-Stout encourages and supports active partnerships with industry employers, including summer work experience and other professional development opportunities, for faculty to remain current in the discipline.

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION In this position, you will be a valued member of the Business Department at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. The department houses the Business Administration and Supply Chain Management programs and prepares students for careers in a variety of industries, as well as government and non-profits. In addition to the programs housed in the department, faculty contribute to the Stout Core, our general education program, and support other programs within the School of Management.

The Department of Business is one of eight departments within the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Management and delivers courses that serve 20 undergraduate majors, including bachelor's degrees in business administration, Fashion and Retail, and Supply Chain Management. The Department of Business currently has 13 full‑time faculty members.
