Position Overview Legacy Staffing is seeking a compassionate and skilled

Drug/Alcohol Counselor

on behalf of our client, a behavioral health organization dedicated to supporting individuals with co-occurring disorders. This role focuses on providing counseling and support to clients diagnosed with chronic schizophrenia and substance use disorders. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, experience in recovery models, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients substance use and mental health histories

Provide individual and group counseling for clients with dual diagnoses

Collaborate with treatment teams to develop tailored treatment plans

Facilitate group therapy sessions focused on recovery, relapse prevention, and life skills

Offer crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when necessary

Coordinate care with psychiatrists, case managers, and other professionals

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with program and regulatory standards

Provide education and resources on substance abuse recovery and coping strategies

Advocate for clients and assist in connecting them with community resources

Qualifications

Associate or Bachelors degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field

Certification as a Drug/Alcohol Counselor (CADC, CCAPP, or equivalent) required

Experience working with individuals diagnosed with chronic mental health conditions and substance use disorders

Knowledge of recovery models and best practices for substance use treatment

Familiarity with Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health services and resources

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment

Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required
