A Research Associate II position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Melanie Shapiro, PhD, in the AR‑DMRI Department of Diabetes Immunology. You will perform a variety of experiments related to the genetics and immunology of type 1 diabetes. The Shapiro laboratory currently studies germline genetic variants predicting response to immunotherapies for type 1 diabetes as well as somatic variants in the pancreas and immune cells of organ donors with type 1 diabetes.

Responsibilities
Isolate and culture immune cells in vivo
Perform CRISPR/Cas9‑mediated gene editing
Run multicolor flow cytometry and analysis
Execute ELISA and/or multiplex cytokine quantification assays
Analyze single nucleotide polymorphism genotyping data
Perform murine injections, dissection, and processing of pancreas and immune organs for in vivo experiments
Process and analyze single cell RNA sequencing data
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. Master’s degree preferred
2+ years of related research/laboratory experience with a Bachelor's degree or 1+ year related research/laboratory experience with a Master’s degree
Some experience in the experimental and analytical techniques listed above is preferred, but not required
