Annual Salary Range: $15,129 – $29,963 (Based on 192/193 Day Contract). Initial placement based on education and contracted licensed experience.

Specialty stipend: $572 for licensed employees certified in Multilingual (Spanish, Arabic, Ukrainian, Russian) after standardized proficiency test.

Responsibilities

Help each pupil develop competence in subject matter skills, motivate application of understanding and skills to solve problems, and develop good relationships with parents and staff.

Teach courses to secondary pupils using the Board of Education course of study and appropriate curriculum publications.

Instruct pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the course of study common to all teachers.

Develop lesson plans and instructional aids.

Demonstrate concepts using models, chalkboard, overhead projector, and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids.

Provide individualized and small group instruction as needed to adapt the curriculum to each pupil.

Design learning activities that relate subject area to the physical world.

Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to provide an orderly, productive classroom.

Evaluate each pupil’s progress and prepare progress reports; may prepare letters of recommendation for scholarships, college applications, etc.

Perform basic attendance accounting and business services as required.

Plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants, or other paraprofessionals.

Communicate with parents to interpret contemporary teaching methods and discuss individual pupil progress.

Identify pupil needs and cooperate with professional staff to assess and help pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.

Supervise pupils during out-of-classroom activities.

Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities and self-selected professional growth activities.

Maintain regular and prompt attendance.

Assist other personnel as needed.

Participate in meetings (parent conferences, in‑service training, site meetings, etc.).

Select and requisition books, instructional aids, and supplies; maintain inventory records.

Participate in curriculum and developmental programs within the school and/or on a district level; may teach under modular or flexible scheduling plans.

Share in sponsorship of student activities and participate in faculty committees.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree.

Teaching Credential for appropriate level of instruction and/or subjects.

Highly Qualified Status for assignment.

Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid Certificates.

Prior job related experience.

Skills to motivate students, communicate with diverse groups, evaluate performance.

Knowledge of age‑appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, education code, appropriate instructional subjects.

Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, perform specialized tasks, maintain records, establish cooperative relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, meet schedule and deadlines. Physical abilities include lifting/carrying/reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, visual acuity and field of vision.

State of Oregon Teaching License with Math PK‑12 endorsement; current First Aid Card.
