Historic Preservation Specialist 3 – SHPO Programs Supervisor, Architectural Historian
State of Nevada Full Time Historic Preservation, Government Salary Range This position is located in Carson City and will serve as the Nevada State Historic Preservation Office’s SHPO Programs Supervisor. This SOI qualified chief Architectural Historian will supervise Historic Preservation Specialists I and II and a Grants & Projects Analyst I positions by assigning and reviewing work and setting priorities. This full-time position includes in-depth reviews of proposed construction projects for historic architectural resources and will manage various federal and state programs including the Commission for Cultural Centers and Historic Preservation (CCCHP) grant program for historic buildings, the SHPO’s active preservation covenants, Historic Preservation Fund (HPF) Subgrants, Federal Historic Preservation Tax Incentives Program, National Register of Historic Places, Nevada State Register of Historic Places, and the Certified Local Governments (CLG) program. The applicant must have professional experience applying The Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and Standards for Rehabilitation to historic building projects. The position will coordinate with staff and the public to ensure prompt and efficient review of federal and state funded historic preservation grants, covenants, and proposed nominations. The incumbent will assist the Administrator to prepare elements of the State’s preservation plan. This is not a complete description of the position’s responsibilities.
